Softymo Deep Cleansing Oil Review – A Facial Cleanser! ♡

Today I’d like to tell you about my favorite oil cleanser.

This is a staple of mine which is why I’m praising this product so much.

 What is Cleansing Oil, strawberryjam? ╮ (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.) ╭

I’m not sure if you’re all familiar with oil cleansers!

I know they sound counter intuitive, right? We should wash our faces to get rid of excess oil – won’t using oil on our face make it worse?

But that’s actually not the case.

One problem I have with many facial cleansers on the market is that they dry my skin. After washing my face using the product, my skin feels tight.

And then my skin goes through a vicious cycle. It needs to replenish the oil on my dry skin and that may crank up the machine too hard leaving my face very oily.

Although this oil works for my normal skin – that’s not to say oil doesn’t work for every skin type even oily skin!

So why does oil work, strawberryjam?

Oil dissolves oil. When you use an oil facial cleanser, you clean off the icky, old oil and replace with it clean oil.

Not only that, it does a fairly good job of washing my makeup off.

The type of oil used in this product is Bran Oil and Mineral Oil. I’ve read a lot of cautionary tales online about Mineral Oil, but please read on before writing it off!

Oryza sativa (rice) bran oil, mineral oil, sorbeth-30 tetraoleate, triethyl hexanoine, cyclomethicone, orange oil, tocopherol, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, glycerin, polyglyceryl-2 diisostearate, trilaureth-4 phosphate, water, phenoxyethanol

(This amount roughly lasts me 6 months)

To start off, your hands need to be clean and they need to be absolutely dry.

Here’s my face before!

(My makeup isn’t completely vibrant, but it’s been a long day! And this is typically when I would use cleanser anyways!)

I generally use 1 pump and then massage all over my face.

The makeup will begin to dissolve and your  face will begin to feel clean.

Then I wash off my face with water. The oil surprisingly comes off pretty well.

Here’s the after.DSC_2052-mod

You can see that not all my eye makeup has dissolved, but everything else has.

I try to be careful about massaging the oil underneath my eyes because I am afraid the oil will get into my eyes. That’s one reason why it hasn’t come all the way off.

You can see the impact on my nose a lot better.

My foundation in the before picture is doing well to cover my crater size pores, but you can see the cleanser has done a pretty good job in the after picture.

So this is why strawberryjam recommends Cleansing Oil!

While the product doesn’t look completely effective, I would still rate it well. My face feels very clean, it never feels very tight afterwards, and it also doesn’t feel oily. People have claimed that Mineral Oil clogs your pores, but I have yet to experience that.

Cleansing Oil shouldn’t be the one and only cleanser you use. You should be using a 2 step cleansing process so for this first part to remove majority of makeup, I feel it’s done most of the job.

Why should I get the Softymo Cleansing Oil? Why not another one?

There are many online guides on using oils like Olive Oil, Castor Oil, etc.

I haven’t tried them myself, but they don’t see to come handy because they recommend a mix of oils rather than just using one. That’s a bit bothersome mixing oils then using it on your face!

This comes in a convenient package mixed already and there’s a pump.

I will admit I would like to try other oils though!

Where can I buy this Cleansing Oil? How much does it cost?

You can find it online for roughly $16. I prefer to buy my cosmetics on eBay because they tend to be cheaper.

And now the drum roll..

strawberryjam’s rating!

Out of 5 strawberries..

There’s not much of a scent. But I can see how the subtle smell it does have could bother people.

Very convenient!

It’s roughly around $16 for 6 months supply. It’s not entirely inexpensive, I will admit. But it’s one of the cheaper Cleansing Oils on the market.

It works really well for me while still being gentle.

The only comment I have to make is that Oil Cleansers in general are just slightly inconvenient including this one.

I find it annoying to have to wash my hands and wait for them to fully dry before I can wash my face. It is not a huge deal, but I don’t feel like I can get a lot done keeping my hands clean and waiting for them to dry.

P.S. Sorry again for my bad skin!
