Hiking in Ireland + My thoughts on the Blogging World ♡

Did you all have a good week?

I went on a short hiking trip on Saturday! :raburabu:

It was just on a trail around Dublin – it’s called the Wicklow Way and typically takes 5-7 days.

We were planning on finishing Day 1 of the hike, but a. woke up super late (as always!).

That’s OK though! It was still super enjoyable! I hope you’ll like the pictures.

The trail starts at a park in the city.

Look at the super cute duck! I wonder what he’s up to.. DSC_1957-mod

This is a fairy tree!

DSC_1967-modI’ve never heard of such trees until I came to Ireland. This seems to be part of Irish folklore.

Some people believe fairies live in these trees and it’s very bad luck to cut down these trees otherwise the fairies will exact their revenge!

I think that fairies also sleep during the day.. I did not get to see them because I had to catch the bus home! :aseru:

During the hike, I got caught in the rain, but that’s Ireland for you.

Good thing there was trees along the path protecting me from the rain!

And you can see below – the road was dry, but the water started accumulating and flowing down the road.

And this is when the hiking really began!

I haven’t done a lot of hiking.. and it doesn’t look that steep of a climb, but there was much more of it. I was dying when I finally got to the top.

Not to mention my butt is super sore today, hahaha.

Getting to the top was totally worth it!

It’s a view of Dublin!

You can see the bay to the right (I’m kind of covering it, sorry!)

And I can also roughly see my apartment building! :bear:

DSC_1993-modIt was so refreshing seeing this.

What do you think of Dublin?

Do you girls do outdoor activties like hiking much?

I’d like to do them more and more.. but my biggest challenge is wearing something suitable, but still cute, haha.

That’s what a girl’s heart is like!

I had another super low self esteem day. I did not used to have these issues until I started this blog..

I’m always looking for ways to improve my blog, but part of it involves looking at others more popular blogs and thinking about what I like about them. Pictures? Writing? Etc. And then thinking if it’s possible to apply my own twist and use it on my blog.

And it’s making me feeeel soooooo ugly and drab when I see other beautiful girls’ blogs!  It’s making me think I’ll never be remotely successful like them..

I played with make up and hair today to make myself feel better.

It took so much work to find a good angle of myself and the result is the picture below!

(I tried to do kitty cat hair!)DSC_37020mod

It’s super unhealthy to play the comparison game.

I don’t consider myself exceptional by any means, but I just feel so happy to have some followers that seem to like something about me!

I suppose what I’m trying to say is, most people aren’t born beautiful. All girls go through the awkward phase of figuring out makeup, skincare, etc. and it takes a long time to find out what works for you.

And while I post loads of pictures of myself on my blog, they all take a lot of effort. I’m far from being the hottest celebrity where any snapshot from any angle with or without makeup looks great.

I feel slightly uncomfortable talking about my lack of  confidence.. But I’m hoping it will make other girls feel better. We don’t need to strive to be like some beautiful model or something. Instead we should just be our beautiful selves!

Fighting! :bear:

Ireland looks beautiful! And I researched more about fairy trees after reading this post. It’s incredibly interesting reading all about its myths and origins. Plus that fairy tree is so adorable!

I am quite active as I have a dog, but I’ve only gone hiking a handful of times. Usually I’m dressed in sweats and t-shirts as I get all stinky and sweaty. Although I’ve tried to look cute in the past while taking my dog on walks, it does get tiring trying to find something cute yet suitable. I think you accomplished just that though! You look really cute in that outfit.

I know exactly what you mean about comparing yourself to someone else. It’s a really bad habit of mine..I just sometimes think that if I just wasn’t myself, and instead I was someone else I would be happier because I would then be prettier, smarter, etc. Just the other day I wished I could have been reborn as someone else! lol. I think accepting yourself is a lifelong battle, and we will never be truly happy with how we are in the moment, but I’m glad that you realize just how wonderful you are despite feeling down every now and then. :raburabu:

Yes, the fairy tree is actually really cute, haha.

And having a dog encourages being active, doesn’t it?! Man, I’m jealous! I’ve been dying to have a dog, but I won’t be staying in Ireland forever so it would be so hard to only have one a few years and part with it.
I certainly wouldn’t be dressing up for running/walks though. But I do like to look good for hikes because you do tend to take pictures on those days, haha.

And you’re right, I don’t think we’re ever happy with ourselves entirely. But that’s why we should all strive to be a better person tomorrow. I suppose thinking if you could be someone else entirely is just thinking of the easier way out, haha.
